The bayou streams under my studio in Cleveland, Mississippi, running through the north of the Mississippi Delta. It changes every day, rising and falling, expanding and contracting. One day, the water beautifully reflects the skies and plant life, while another, it ripples with the rhythm of rain. I am absorbed in the process of contemplating, looking, and painting this ever-changing landscape. Through this daily practice, I rediscover myself, becoming more attached to the present moment and distancing myself from future anxieties. My paintings serve as mental and physical interpretations of the scenery I witness, and a transformative record of my engagement with time and place.
